Based in Toronto, you’ll connect with decision makers across the world, identify attractive vertical market software opportunities, and nurture relationships over time.</p><p><br></p><p>This role represents a major growth opportunity for Vela APX, positioning you at the forefront of our North American expansion. You'll be part of the spearhead team driving market entry, with the option to work from our Toronto office alongside business development professionals from across the Vela network and several of APX’s sister companies</p><p><br></p><p>This is not about transactional sales, it’s about patience, persistence, and trust-building. You’ll be the first touchpoint in a founder’s journey with Vela, helping them explore succession, recapitalisation, or exit options.</p><p><br></p><p>We know there’s no one-size-fits-all profile for this unique role, but we’re especially keen to connect with candidates who bring 3-5 years of progressive experience in one or more of the following areas: outbound SaaS sales, sales or revenue operations, growth or go-to-market strategy (particularly in early-stage or sponsor-backed environments), Chief of Staff or strategic roles in scaling businesses, or corporate development with a strong focus on deal sourcing</p><p><br></p><p><b>What You’ll Do</b></p><ul><li>Build and nurture a global network of CEOs, founders, investors, bankers, and advisors.</li><li>Originate and qualify new M&A opportunities in Salesforce CRM.</li><li>Run thoughtful outreach campaigns via LinkedIn, email, phone, conferences, and face-to-face meetings.</li><li>Share Vela APX’s acquisition criteria and value proposition with decision makers.</li><li>Re-engage warm leads and revive stale ones with persistence and empathy.</li><li>Collaborate with M&A leaders to progress opportunities into live deals.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>What Success Looks Like</b></p><ul><li>Build and manage a healthy M&A pipeline with strong relationships in your assigned verticals.</li><li>Deliver consistent Meaningful Dialogues (MDs) and other sourcing KPIs.</li><li>Originate qualified opportunities that align with our investment mandate.</li><li>Make a visible, long-term impact on Vela APX’s global growth.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Who You Are</b></p><ul><li>A natural networker: curious, approachable, and genuinely interested in people’s stories.</li><li>Experienced in sales or business development (3+ years), ideally outbound origination, SaaS sales, or M&A/finance.</li><li>Entrepreneurial and self-driven, with strong time management and persistence.</li><li>Comfortable engaging with C-level executives and founders.</li><li>Commercially sharp, with some financial/investment acumen.</li><li>Collaborative and aligned to our values: Fun (enjoying the journey), Excellence (always evolving), and Belonging (everyone contributes).</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Bonus Points</b></p><ul><li>Established connections in the software market.</li><li>Salesforce CRM proficiency.</li><li>Experience working across international markets (SEA, APAC, Europe).</li><li>Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><b>Application Process</b></p><p><b>To apply, please complete this short case study first: </b></p><ul><li>Identify 3 software businesses that fit our criteria (owner-operated, reoccurring revenue, vertical market software, long-standing customer bases).
